Rug Guide

Merorug.com has a huge collection of so many rugs with so many sizes. So, there are naturally so many choices too. But don't worry, we have provided this guide to take the guesswork out of choosing and measuring rugs so that you can find the one that's just right for you.

What really matters is the SIZE
The most common mistake most of the people make while purchasing a rug is buying too small or too large one for them. So, you need to plan well before buying the rugs for you. Well, when purchasing a large and room-sized rug, to select the rug first and then the furniture and all other is a good idea. In fact, large rugs can dominate your room, that's why it is important that the rest of the room match accordingly in order to avoid discordance. And talking about smaller rugs, well, they should be selected to match the existing décor as much as possible. So, it is important to choose rugs that are neither too large nor too small for your room. Use 3' x 5' or 4' x 6' accent rugs to define nooks or other special areas. You can commonly find room-sized or room-fit rugs in the sizes 5' x 8' or 6' x 8'. These are the ideal sizes for decorating the dens, family rooms and living rooms in order to provide a stylish accent or to add comfort and warmth to the floor.

What about the COLOR?
Well, you are always free to choose your favorite color rugs for you. But, while choosing the color, what you will find is, darker hues help create a cozy and more intimate feel while lighter colors complement open spaces and make smaller rooms feel more spacious.

Think about the COST too…
Rugs are available in a wide range of prices offering you the decorative and utilitarian flooring solutions for all budget levels. And while talking about the cost, cost is largely determined by the materials used and the manner in which it was constructed and how large it is. Generally, what you see is, synthetic rugs are normally less expensive than those constructed with natural fibers. In fact, handmade rugs are more expensive than those made via machine. Always remember that larger the rug, the higher will be the price. So, determine what the price range is, and then only purchase the best-quality rugs you can afford. And while purchasing the rugs, don't forget to consider the factors like durability as well as stain resistance along other important features.

It's good idea to identify WEAVING METHODS…
Rugs are produced using various methods. To know about those weaving methods will serve as the complement to your knowledge about rugs. Let us briefly introduce you those methods:

Hand-Hooked: In this method, the weaver pushes a hooking tool through the foundation of cloth to the front of the rug and then, pulls the yarn to the back leaving a loop on the surface.

Hand-Knotted: In this method, each knot is individually tied by hand. And these knots are the single strands of yarn that have been looped around two adjacent warp threads.

Hand-Tufted: In this method, an inked-on foundation cloth is stretched over a loom. And then a manually operated hand-tufting gun pushes the yarn through the back of the cloth. While the rug is taken off the loom, a scrim and layer of latex is placed on the back. Then, a backcloth is sewed on the latex and scrim to protect your floors.
